In the year 2009, Jiang Qiong Er, the visionary founder and CEO of Chinese luxury label Shang Xia, had a revolutionary idea. This idea was to revitalize age-old Chinese traditions that were steeped in fine craftsmanship into contemporary designs for the modern art of graceful living. She presented this concept to Hermes, one of France's most renowned luxury brands, earning their immediate enthusiasm.
She then sought guidance from Chinese museum curators and university professors, gathering valuable advice along with a team of artisans proficient in traditional techniques but possessing the creative drive to redefine these skills for today's world. Her vision was to merge East and West sensibilities while preserving cultural heritage.
From this fusion emerged Shang Xia’s exquisite collection featuring furniture, home goods, tea sets, fashion apparel, leather items, jewelry, and accessories all centered around the concept of home living. Each piece is meticulously crafted using superior materials, skillfully finished in every detl. Classic techniques like bamboo marquetry, eggshell porceln, and kesi embroidery are reimagined alongside modern innovations such as carbon fiber furniture.
Shang Xia’s boutiques across Paris and China feature uniquely designed spaces that exemplify the brand's design philosophy. The Paris store is a stunning showcase of ceramic tiles symbolizing both European admiration for Chinese ceramics and the impressionistic style of French artistry. Meanwhile, Beijing's boutique adopts geometric patterns reminiscent of traditional masonry, aluminium, tea, and wood textures.
A milestone was reached in 2014 with the opening of Mson Shang Xia in Shangha vibrant bl of national tradition offering elegance, creativity, quality, hospitality, and generosity. Each design embodies Jiang Qiong Er's goal to bridge past and future by transforming Chinese cultural heritage into contemporary art.
Jiang Qiong Er is not just a designer but also an architect of modern luxury, redefining traditional aesthetics for today's generation while honoring their rich history.
